Joseph R. DeGeorge
Co-Founder
Joe, a lifelong resident of Rochester, NY is often quoted saying, “Do the right thing.” This is an idea that embodies his philosophy that everyone can win and that ethical and sustainable business is the only business that people should start. This happily married, father of three finds joy in helping people and creating value for those he touches.
Joe, one of the first in his family to go through college, is a perfect example of “The American Dream.” He worked his way through high school and college as a district manager of a pizza company. Upon graduation from SUNY Cobleskill and RIT he gained knowledge and experience with 18 years in the insurance industry. However, he aspired for more. He wanted to spend less time in a suit, and more time with his family.
In 1996, Joe and his childhood friend Paul Callarame started St. Pauly with a dream, a pick-up truck, persistence and a little luck. It has since grown to a company that, in 2007 sent more than 38 million garments to an estimated 3.5 million people across the U.S. and the world. All of this while working with more than 300 local non-profit organizations every year.
Joe has been involved in countless community organizations and events including the Henrietta Town Youth Board, Boy Scouts of America with his sons (two of which are Eagle Scouts), baseball, soccer, hockey, cross country, track and field, local fraternal organizations and government. He enjoys time spent on in the woods on his land in Branchport, NY. He is happily married to Sue Daniels DeGeorge and is a proud father of three sons, Joey, age 31, Ben, age 21 and Ted, age 18.
